Never Before Has Shopping Been So Important, But Only If You Do It Right
In every jam jar, under every linen label, and in every perfect drop of red there is years of craftsmanship and commitment. Even beyond the warm and fuzzies, there are a number of very clever, very pragmatic reasons to support locally made and owned products.
Who would have thought that in the year 2020, clicking ‘add to cart’ would become less a guilty pleasure, and more an act of compassion.
It’s certainly a surprise, but one we’ll embrace with open arms. Because given all that’s going on in the world, shopping has become one of the most powerful, positive things we can do right now. So long as we do it right.
It’s now more important than ever to shop local. In the wake of a catastrophic bushfire season, devastating floods, and of course, a pandemic, Aussies have watched in real time as our nation suffered through immense sadness and hardship. But the silver lining is this - we learned how to band together, and we quickly came to realise how much power lies in our everyday decisions.
When you shop with a conscience, you make the choice to throw your support behind the right people. Small businesses are doing it tough, but despite it all, they continue to produce top quality products. We’re spoilt for choice in Australia, and this is the impetus we needed to open our eyes to how good we have it.
Shopping local should be a no-brainer. Because there is something so very lovely about knowing that behind every click, there is a story. In every jam jar, under every linen label, and in every perfect drop of red there is years of craftsmanship and commitment.
Even beyond the warm and fuzzies, there are a number of very clever, very pragmatic reasons to support locally made and owned products. Recent predictions by Roy Morgan estimate that 2.09 million Australians are unemployed right now - a heartbreaking statistic that further emphasises how vital it is that we all put our money where our mouths are. And by keeping our manufacturing local, we can better ensure we’re supporting sustainable practices and setting ourselves up for a better, brighter future.
Shopping Australian is the ultimate win/win situation. So gone are the days of the guilty pleasure. Today, every click counts.
