It will teach you the fundamentals of how to use Ad Manager and it will show you how to target your brand to reach the right audience.” Boosting your content to reach that audience on Facebook is also an economical way to advertise and to get the attention that your brand deserves. “A lot of people think that if you put up a post everyone will see it,” says Katija. “But on Facebook only 1 to 5 per cent who follow you, will see your content. And there’s no point in putting up anything amazing if no one is going to see it.” She recommends that the best way to reach people and get brand awareness is to spend a marketing budget of up to $200 a month, boosting your content to your target audience. So, for example, if you’re selling something like baby essentials, you could target new parents. “Facebook Boost is such a powerful feature, a lot of people don’t really understand that it can be as simple as that,” she says. “Don’t overcomplicate it. Facebook Boost pushes your page up on the content queue, so more people will see it.” Katija believes that having an imaginative social media presence is all important when telling the story of your brand. “You should use your social media channels like Facebook and Instagram to communicate the history of your business, your unique selling points and to really start to build awareness around your products,” she says. “It’s also a focus on who you are and why you’re inspired to do what you do,” she explains. Meet the MakerMeet The Maker: Kassie and Andrew Blaszak Founders of Branberry
The story behind Australian Merino Wool brand, Interknit Branberry is one of pure dedication. It’s about the determination of a young couple, Kassie and Andrew Blaszak, to keep their production in Australia, while overcoming many obstacles along the way. They own Interknit - one of the last few woollen mills in Australia and produce the high end label, Branberry with its heirloom collections of blankets, baby wear and fashion. “We’re the only knitwear manufacturer in regional Victoria and we don’t outsource anything”, Kassie says proudly. “We work from our factory in Ballarat where we pay award rates for our staff.” It hasn’t been easy. in 2005, they took over the Interknit mill, which was established 82 years ago and “nearly lost everything” in the Global Financial crisis (GFC) of 2008.“When that happened, we had to adapt and take over many of the production roles ourselves. We found ourselves multi-tasking is so many different areas, picking and packing, ironing all the garments, while still running the business,” explains the mum of three. But gradually things improved. The couple now employs 16 staff, while Kassie also spends most of her time, designing the different collections including the adorable pure wool cot blankets. “We’re always thinking about what we can do to improve our range, just to keep the ball rolling,” she says.
